and did you notice a change in his/her waking up time (in the morning, i mean)?

(thanks to those who answered my other post about how long to stick with a new routine btw)

Ds still having one occasionally at 18 months. He had one consistently until 17 months old. Morning nap was 1-2 hrs then went down gradually to 30-40 mins. His afternoon nap is 1.5-2.5 hrs usually, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.

I have never presviously noticed any change in wake-up time. From the aged of 3-4 months old he has always woken up at between 5am and 6am with the very rare occasion of waking later no matter what time he went to sleep or what his naps were like.

Recently though (in the last 2 weeks of so) he seems to be sleeping later around 6am or a bit later - again it doesn't really seem related to his naps though.

oh are you talking about going down from two naps to one?
Well in that case 18-20 months too here.
Followed by a period of waking at 5am Shock

about 18 months
didn't notice a difference in waking up times
still sleeps in afternoon for about 2 hours or so

wow - am surprised. seems like friends' babies have dropped it far earlier (maybe due to starting nursery and fitting in with schedules there?).

ds is 13mo and am trying to get him to go without his morning sleep - someone here suggested that the end of his nighttime sleep has become "detached" and he takes it mid-morning (wakes at 5-6am then sleeps for an hour and a half from 9ish).

We didnt so much drop the morning nap as make it slightly later e.g. around midday. It was really the afternoon nap that got missed out instead. Even now at 2 1/2, dd still has a nap of 1-2 hours (sometimes a bit less depending on what we have been up to) which can start any time from midday to 3pm. You could try pushing the morning nap progressively later until it is nearer the middle of the day and see if that helps. You may find that some days your lo will need 1 nap and others he will need 2. Changing naps never made much difference to wake up time as she still wakes sometime between 6am and 7am (normally around 6.30am)

Seona1973 · 19/06/2006 19:43

p.s. dd was around 11/12 months when she went to 1 nap.

jambot · 20/06/2006 10:50

DD (15 months) naps once a day from 11ish to 1ish. Has done from 12 months.

notsoladyjess · 20/06/2006 11:38

i was going to ask the same thing actually as my ds2 is 11 months and has been waking up earlier than usual (6.30/45ish rather than 7.45) and i miss the extra time in bed, what a selfish cow i am!
he sleeps 2 hours after lunch and used to have 30 mins in the morning at 9ish. i am def cutting down the morning nap now as he is waking up earlier at lunchtime and in the morning. wish i could remember what i did with ds1 but seem to have forgotten!

Tutter · 20/06/2006 15:55

nsljess - you should thank your lucky stars you get such a lie-in even on a bad day!!!

jambot - do you feed her after her sleep?

Both mine dropped it at around 12 months. Partially due to nursery schedules. DD (25 months) now has 11.5 hours at night and 2 hours (ish) in the day.
