If your baby slept through from a young age (8-12 weeks ish), what did you do to achieve this?

I would consider sleeping through to be from 10-11pm to 7am roughly.
Did you teach them to self settle? Restrict night feeds? Offer water instead of milk? Put them in their own room? Anything else?

Complete luck. DS slept through from 8 weeks and DD from 6-ish with very few blips. If they woke, they got fed/cuddled so it wasn't that they stopped expecting anything. My family just like sleep. At nearly 5 and 18 months, they still both like sleep. We chuck them both into bed at night and that's it.
I don't think we really had anything to do with it other than a genetic predisposition to like sleeping.

bishboschone sounds interesting, if you wouldn't mind typing it out I'd be interested to hear. I find the 'it's all luck' view a bit depressing as I don't seem to be very lucky with sleep (DS' s was rubbish)

Absolutely nothing. It's luck

My babies were big, hungry but both slept 6 hrs is from a few weeks old and 10 or 12 by 10/12 weeks

We had no routine, nothing. I was just very very lucky

I am lazy, as is dp. Must be genetic
