HELP!!!!! To keep my sanity!

we put Joey in his big boy bed last night - he woke

(went to sleep at 9pm) 12, 1.45, 3.15, 4.30 (when was fed) 6.20 (bum change and back to bed) everytime cos he'd spat his dummy out - he's asleep but screaming, I thought the different room would help him.

b4 we went to p'mouth for 2 weeks (been back 1 week) he was only waking once at3 for a feed till 6 - can manage that can't manage every 1.5 hours!!!!

out new thing b4 bed is bath feed and bed but he goes down crying and wakes up crying at the mo - I know he's teething, but these are real screams like not enough sleep. any ideas? when we bring his b/t forward to 7/8 he feeds at 12 then 4 then refuses to go back to bed.

HELP!!! what can I do??

I thought that was normal 16 week old behaviour

Munz · 16/06/2006 09:04

:( not for this little man - until 3 weeks ago he was hapily sleeping from 9-3 or 4 then to 6/7. it's almost like he's unable to switch off for his naps - it doesn't seem to matter what we do ie noise, no noise, bed/bath, we were going to try a more ridged time table as at the mo it's v rough - ie led by him - perhaps we should try bath/bed at 7.30 in bed by 8.30??

we've tried dream feeds which back fired badly as well, I cluster feed most of the afternoon/early evening from about 4pm, we've tried not leeting him sleep/nap after 4 pm so he's ready for bed at 7.30 - and having 4-7.30 as his awake period but that back fired after about 3 days so we went back to his old rough easy plan - which we were just getting back into then we went home and of coure had every oen poking/proding esp when he was sleeping/being moved about loads out shoppin etc.

thankfully DH is oging to take him tonight so I can have a full night's sleep. but godd I dread night times at the mo.

looks like teeth - ther's a point on the side of his mouth from the gum - poor lamb last night was much better - how long does this teething lark last for? lol. (and he stayed in his bed as well, so 2 nights now)

Arghhhh, what a horrible night or two. The teething goes on til about 18 months, then again at about 2 yrs....
Its not constant tho!

There is a growth spurt around 16 weeks isnt there? Its the one they know less about cos baby used to always be weaned by then

Hope you get a few good nights. If he is screaming in sleep, it could well be pain. I would try some calpol and see if it helps when he wakes.

ok we're now on for 4 nights in his own bed, last night was quite good, went in at 9.15 (missed his 8.15 feed so woke up after a power snooze - went straigiht back down again) woke at 2am then again at 4 (althou at 4 I rubbed the calpol teething stuff into his gums and left the night light on and he was fine till 6am) so it was prob the whole new bed and teeth cutting. bit worried thou it's a side tooth cutting thru not his front ones but we're going for his jabs' tomorrow so will ask the nurse to check. seems to be getting back to his old routein and with day tiem naps - didn't realise it would take longer for him to settle down, not sure about the growth spurt, I thought he'd had it already when we were at home- althou I guess those come/go as well.
