... because I put him down on his back at bottom of cot. Then he struggles his way up to the top of the cot in his sleep, gets trapped at the top of the cot when he can roll no further, wakes and cries!
Is there any magic solution to stop this crazy rolling around? I'm sure this is what wakes him and Not hunger but I feed him back to sleep as not brave enough to leave him yet or resettle without feeding. He generally cinema out quickly after feeding, generally ten minutes
He's in a sleeping bag btw and is a big baby - 17lbs now

Oh the rolling over and waking up because I've rolled over. I remember this. Only lasts a little while. Then they start doing the same with WAH! Why am I sitting up!

SIDS guidelines don't count once they are moving themselves around.

Arh, I'd forgotten about the sitting up' no doubt followed by pulling up ...

Oh, I have a DS2 (he turned five months this week) who is just the same.

He is in a bedside cot and every night, he rolls and wiggles out of it across my half of the bed. DH and I sleep on a tiny sliver on the edge of the bed while he hogs both a big bedside cot and my half of the bed, usually rolling face down and horizontally across both beds.

I try to put him back in the right position but we always end up in the same muddle. And he rolls over to his front instantly.

Although I suppose I shouldn't be too scared about him being squashed/suffocated as he seems to be able to move around and push both his parents out of bed. He will probably just continue in this fashion. Grin

My 5 month old turns 90 degrees then cries when she hits her head on the bars as she's too long to go horizontal!

PurplePidjin · 19/08/2013 07:51

Mine (now 9 months) refuses to sleep on his back at all. I gave in and risked it from 4 weeks old Hmm

My 7 month old is the same. Constantly flipping, turning, trying to crawl, banging head, limbs getting stuck. And then she has the cheek to scream the house down and wake everyone up!! Hoping it is just a phase and it too shall pass?! Find myself repeating this sentence a lot.

PicnicPie · 19/08/2013 08:34

Sorry forgot to add, like poster above said once they're mobile and can move themselves the SIDS risk lessens, obviously just make sure cot is free from anything obstructions (soft toys, loose blankets etc).

Whereisthesnow · 19/08/2013 09:44

Cot is totally empty. In a way it's like a padded cell for him ... sleeping bag as baby strait jacket! He can roll from front to back but doesn't seem to think to do so during the night - or even roll back down the cot. That would be too much like common sense ...
