Just need reassurance that this is just a phase that DS will grow out of...
By day he is the most wonderful baby - so happy, easy, charming to everyone he meets.
But for the last 2 weeks, nights have turned horrendous. We've gone from 2/1/no wakings in the night to waking at all hours. Tonight he has woken 5 times in a 10 hour period. He used to go straight back to sleep after a feed but is now really unsettled.
He is 6 months old so we are trying to feed him up in the day so he doesn't need to wake for milk in the night but again this is proving unsuccessful.
We have tried changing his bed, keeping him awake for longer in the day, making his days busier... Nothing seems to have an effect on his sleep anymore.
At times it's been clear that his teeth have been hurting so we've given him
Calpol but he hasn't been showing signs of teething in the last week or so so we can't blame that.
I know that because he's 6 months this could just be related to a growth spurt but I'm struggling to be optimistic at the moment. I go back to work in 4 weeks time; I'm not coping with the lack of sleep now and don't know how on earth I'll manage then.
Any positive thoughts/ suggestions gratefully received!

It's hard when you think you've cracked it and then they regressHmm how much sleep is he getting in the day? I found the better mine sleep in the day, the better they are at night. At that age they were having a morning (1.5-2 hours after waking), and lunchtime (after feed and lunch at 11:30) nap, for around 1-2 hours each time. DS2 would sometimes have half hour around 4 if he was really tired. He still has 2 naps a day now and he's just over 9 months old. Smile

Thanks Spacegirl.
He usually sleeps 2-3 hours in the day; yesterday he slept an hour and a half. Either way his nighttime sleep is awful!

[waves at woody from antenatal thread]

Same problem here I'm afraid except she's never slept through. So no advice but Brew

Lots of fellow sufferers on the jan postnatal thread if you want company (I think your baby might have been early Feb in the end but that's close enough Smile )

Hi boutique
Has the goodnight milk had any effect?

We certainly noticed when he didn't have it, it just keeps his tummy full so when he wakes up a quick drink of warm water n he's happy back to sleep

Hope this helps
