26 week old flipping over onto tummy and waking herself up...all night long!

DD started to roll from back to tummy at 20 weeks, is now sitting independently, but has not mastered rolling back onto her back from tummy. Which wasn't an issue at all until two nights ago, when she started waking multiple times during the night as a result of getting stuck on her tummy. We have been going in and flipping her back over to her back, and she goes back to sleep then. She also is taking forever (like more than an hour) to settle at bedtime due to constantly flipping over, so she is getting overtired and harder to settle and generally our previously great little sleeper is now an awful one Hmm.

Should we continue to go in and flip her back onto her back at each waking? Or, I understand this is a developmental thing, so would leaving her (not crying obviously) to figure it out herself for a little while, help things along? I can't imagine going through this in the future with sitting up....crawling....standing....what is the best way to approach the sleep disturbance related to these milestones?!! And how long do these phases (at least I hope it is a phase!) last usually?

DS did this-was v annoying. He used to end up on his hands and knees and howl because he got stuck... Eventually One day i just left him to it as he had decided it was a funny game, and he worked out how to roll the other way and settled down again. Now he's 15mo he sleeps in a completely random way, with his bottom in the air-is very cute!!

Annoying phase - my DD did this around the same time, it got better when she became better at flipping herself back over, and she now (9 months) sleeps in a variety of interesting poses! Does she wear a sleeping bag? For a few weeks, I used to tuck the end of the sleeping bag under her mattress to stop her from rolling over while she settled to sleep. Not sure if it's the done thing, but it worked :-)

Our dd is on a grobag and this stops her flipping over. The other week I tried her without it and she lasted a couple of hours before waking herself up.

She's in a gro bag - I've changed her to the next size up but it hasn't helped so far! Will try the tucking it in the mattress trick and see...

I tried tucking in the grow bag and it didn't work for my DS, who was about 7 months when he started doing this regularly - waking up just enough to roll over, then start crying in a confused way on his hands and knees. I now put my breastfeeding pillow, which is more like a long beanbag, around his head and upper body in a sort of cocoon to stop him rolling. It doesn't actually touch him, as he has a wide cot bed, but seems to do the trick as he hasn't rolled since. Seems a bit restrictive and ideally I'd quite like him to be able to change position, but is helping for now.
