Hello,
Well need help with above. My lb is now 10months old, sleep has always been difficult but we're turning a corner. As a baby he would only sleep on someone (midwives in hosp couldn't even get him in a cot) we eventually got him into mosses basket at about 8 weeks and then cot, he now sleeps through in his own room.

My issue is naps, he went from sleeping on me to napping in his buggy. He does approx 3 45 min naps per day but I'm keen to get him into cot for these as I'm conscious that day to day tasks wake him.

I'll admit I'm nervous, previous attempts start with him laughing at me from the cot, then screams and crys, I back down and do the buggy, bit also now I'm struggling to get him sleeping in the buggy he's started crying in that too now ??????

Any ideas????

Bumping this as I also need to get ds to take his naps in his cot during the day.

He has 2 naps and both are in his pram, I feel he would sleep better in his cot as he likes to sleep on his tummy. He is 7 months

And me bumping I'd love ds to nap in his cot.

Ds has started going to sleep much easier in his pram as nap times, may just have to bite the bullet and attempt putting him in his cot! I don't want to do anything until after the holidays as we are out and about most of the time at the moment.

I think you may need to cut him down gradually to one nap a day - try and keep him awake till say 11 by cutting the am one down five mins every few days. It'll be a grumpy few days but then by the time you cut it out he'll be tired enough to go down in his cot for hopefully a longer nap and then eventually won't need the later afternoon nap either so you get one long at nap lunchtime.

How do you get him to sleep in his buggy OP? Do you push/rock him till he nods off?
If so, you could try stopping that, and shush/patting him in his buggy until he falls asleep that way. Once you've got him to do that, you could transfer the shush pat technique to his cot and see if it works. You might find he sleeps a little longer in the cot and you can cut down to 2 naps one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Trying to go to 1 nap would be very difficult for your little boy, he'd be very overtired and hard to settle, I'm not sure it's enough for your average 10 month old.

Do you have other children? If not, could you start lying down on the bed and cuddling him to sleep? Can work quite well to get them used to sleeping in/on a bed. We did it with our two. You can build in a little routine - short story and a drink maybe. Then once he's got used to that, you can start putting the routine before going down in a cot. If necessary, stay with him and pat stroke before doing gradual withdrawal.
