3.5 month in pain at sleep time?

We're really struggling with our baby. He used to feed all the time, and not sleep much during the day - which was fine! (Most of the time Wink ) but we had it all "worked out". He is breastfed and rarely in pain, or sicky and doesn't often cry - he just whines.

The past few days have been hell. He's been arching his back, refusing to feed sometimes and fighting sleep so much we've been swinging him around the house exhausting ourselves getting him to sleep, and then letting him sleep on us as he refused to be put down into the cot. He always used to want to nurse for a couple of minutes to send him sleep, then he would let us put down.

We are really struggling. We don't know what's wrong Sad but he is definitely having issues. Is it teething? Silent reflux? I don't know.

Any advice welcome - I'd write more but he's screaming and I have to switch in with my DH now.

Not sure if he's hungry but can't eat, or tired and can't sleep?

This sounds like pretty much of my while day OP, my LO is 14 weeks. I have managed to put her moses basket in the day a handful of times since birth.
She sleeps on me & goes mad if I put her down.

I always get told its a growth spurt!

She likes being held & going round the garden, maybe its the air.
I find sometimes shes bored & sometimes just wants a cuddle, but you've probably tried all that?

I know its hard, Im on my own with my LO & its really tough to get them settled.
Hope someone can give you better advice,
Sorry not much help Thanks

Hows your LO been this afternoon OP?
Any better?

Do you think its Colic?
Mine had it for about 3 weeks, 5pm - 10pm was hell.
I tried everything and the only thing that worked was Colief,
£12 for 7mls but I would have paid hundreds! .

Sorry to miss your reply. Not sure if it is colic - I thought it might be teething as he is very bitey - but he arched his back today and when I winded him he threw up mightily and he never does that really. And he's still being a monkey waking up at night etc.

God I can't wait till he talks!!!!

I had the back arching wouldn't sleep anywhere but on me at night (after the first wake up DD would go down fine weirdly) as part of my DD's 4 month sleep regression so it might be that a little early? It was horrible at the time, she had been a relatively good sleeper up until that point, waking for feeds maybe 3 times but going straight back to sleep, and she had always been happy in the moses basket until then. She would be up for 1.5 hours in the night.

I thought she might have reflux as she would sleep on her stomach on me sometimes and she seemed in such pain when put on her back but I couldn't work it out as she was happy to sleep in her buggy in the day. The back arching seeming like she was in pain at night went as quickly as it came in the end.

In our case the sleep regression lasted 5 long weeks. I had to have her sleep on me for much of the night (even though I did not want to be a co-sleeper!). It was the only thing that got us through. I worried that she would never sleep in her basket again but it was fine in the end. As the Mumsnet-mantra goes "This too shall pass"...

I hope things get better for you quickly - they are little tinkers! At 7 months I am still waiting for DD to sleep through the night...
