Three sided cots and naps

Hello!
My DS has just figured out how to cling to the side of his BedNest pulling the side in on himself, so it is time to move on. I am very sad about this! The bed nest was totally perfect for us, and I am absolutely not ready for DS to sleep totally apart from me, and DP has the fear about cosleeping properly.

In something of a panic, I bought a small, drop sided, cot- the toddle time Capri, as it happens- which is now tucked next to my side of the bed. It would absolutely be possible to take the drop side off, and jerry rig it into a cosleeper, but my question is this:
What do you do if you want the baby in bed when you are not? With the BedNest I could pop the side up and go off to do exciting things like deal with a dirty nappy or hang up laundry...

I just leave my daughter there and check in on her. At nap time I sort of wrap the duvet around in a big C-shape so if she rolls too much she won't fall out of the bed. However, she doesn't tend to roll at all during nap time, she is very good and wakes up and sits up in bed and waits for me.

My daughter is 12 months old. I guess it depends on what kind of sleeper you have. If I check on her and I think she's too close to the bed, I just pick her up and pop her back in the cot.

Hope this helps
