Downstairs beds for babies?

DD2 (12 wks) won't be put down in the moses basket but does sometimes settle in her cot or pushchair now. I don't like her sleeping in the pushchair as it's got the carseat on so not flat, but I'd like her to be downstairs with me if she falls asleep (plus some jiggling is needed often). Does anyone have a bed set up downstairs for their baby? What is it? Or any suggestions for non Moses basket type beds? Maybe something quite open as that's what she seems to like.

We've just bought a playpen for my DS (older, at 9 months, so it's just for playing in) but you can get proper mattresses for them too and lots of the reviews of the one I bought suggested they were good for downstairs naps. Its a wooden one from Kiddicare. Depends how much space you have, but might be something that would last you a while too.

Travel cot, useful for putting mobile baby in when the door bell rings or you need to drain boiling pasta, too!

The one thing DD1 didn't manage to climb out off.

I used the pushchair seat in the reclined position for dd and the carrycot attachment for the pushchair for ds.

Ds slept in his swing, pram or on his playmat.

A cot mattress on the floor. That's what we did. We used it instead of a travel cot too- much easier and takes up far less room.

You could get a cheap crib, kiddicare and mothercare do one for £40. I used the carrycot off the pushchair on a stand.

Thank you all. I am trying to put her in the pushchair but it requires me to remember to take the car seat out when we get home which never happens of course!

I have a baby hammock downstairs, DS loves it.

At the moment we are using a sheepskin rug under her jungle gym.
Seems quite content.
