I'm stressing a little. It's 29 degrees In LO's room. He's south facing and I've tried to keep it cool all day but with no success. He does have a fan and is asleep right now but I worry its too warm. He's on in a vest so done what i can. Just feel bad for him.just to add It's no cooler anywhere in the house.

Being this hot I would leave him in just a nappy. It's ridiculous heat. Our baby monitor won't go any higher on the temperature gauge, 30 is the highest, now it just says HIGH. He's asleep but its still horrible. He had a fan. I've even left the window open which I don't normally do. Roll on the snow lol

Cracking the loft hatch open made a massive difference yesterday.

Havingkittens · 15/07/2013 00:05

Guide on the Grobag site says just nappy (vest off) with 1 tog bag if it's over 23 degrees.

Areyoumadorisitme · 15/07/2013 00:08

Why are all these babies in a vest, why not just a nappy??? Very confused?!

Ginformation · 15/07/2013 00:15

Toddler in a nappy only here, window and door open. No covers. You don't need a vest or sleeping bag in this heat!

ohforfoxsake · 15/07/2013 08:58

Vest necessary so toddler doesn't take nappy off resulting in pissy bed I imagine.

Exactly !

I think we win, 35 degrees in DS' room in the loft on Sat night! Considering spending the mortgage money on an air conditioning unit, then we can all hang out in his room for the rest of the summer!

Areyoumadorisitme · 15/07/2013 19:20

Ah yes, that explains it. I'm a bit out of practice on the nappy front!

Cordiality we bought one last summer - just a unit for about £200 and hung the pipe out of the window with curtains around it so no gaps.

Its 19 in my room right now and i've been putting DS 1 who is 4 and DS 2 who is 7 months in here to sleep with us. The difference is amazing - go outside into the hallway and into DS's room and its 28 degrees as its west facing for most of the night.

If anybody can stretch to it i can really recommend the air conditioner (argos, homebase ect do them) as we have been hanging out in my bedroom with books and toys most of the afternoon and it's nice. The baby hates the heat and DS likes to come in here for half an hour to cool down.

I'm on my way, think we should all chill at yours lol cos its still to bloody hot

Now DD is properly asleep I've opened the blind and her door again to let the breeze through, with the fan on it seems to be cooler down - she's certainly breathing at a normal rate. However I have convinced DP that when it's winter and the sales are on we're buying a proper cooler for her room for next summer. I imagine when they get older the heat is more disturbing, and her room is always the warmest in the house.
