12 month old fighting sleep.

My DD is nearly 12 months old and for the last few days has been fighting going to sleep at night. I'm going out of my mind with frustration! My daughter has been taking at least an hour to fall asleep.

What use to happen would be: her normal bed time 7:00, I lay her down in her bedside cot, lay next to her breastfeed her to sleep, she falls asleep it takes normally 10 minutes, but up to 30 minutes on her bad nights.

What happens now: her normal bedtime 7:00, I lay her down, I lay next to her breastfeed her to sleep, she breastfeeds and nearly falls asleep. Then she rolls over, sits up, tries to stand up (she is wearing a sleeping bag), bangs the cot bars, chatters away, rolls some more, asks for more breastmilk nearly falls asleep, rolls over has a rest on her belly, sits up, lays down, has a rest on her back, etc. She is so exhasted she can barely keep her eyes open, but for some reason can't sleep.

I get so frustrated, she seems so restless, I'm not really sure what might be the problem and how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this just something I have to ride out, like a growth spurt or do I treat it like a bad behaviour and try to stop it before it becomes habit? Any input would be nice.

Afraid I have no idea but I do have a thirteen month old who does exactly the same.... Looking forward to seeing what people suggest.

I'm not sure, about putting her to bed later, I suppose I could try it. I also thought it might be because it's really hot. At least that is what I hope. I think I might also try moving the cot away from the bed and just putting her down and leaving the room and letting her run around her cot until she lays down and sleeps. We'll see how that goes.

Could it be a developmental thing? I read somewhere that when they're trying to learn new skills like walking or crawling or they've recently master something, they like to practice at lot! And will even fight sleep to get some more playtime in. So maybe not a restless can't sleep thing but more of a I am so frustrated must get this right thing?
