My baby won't nap at home!

My beautiful 7 week DS will nap when we're out and about- in his sling or car seat but he just will not nap at home. If I do manage to get him to sleep- usually by feeding to sleep and putting him in his Moses basket he'll wake up after 10 mins. Any advice?

Don't give up hope, my DD was the same at that age and then gradually got better at sleeping in her carrycot and later in her cot once her sleep was less all over the place. It helped once we had a (very vague and flexible) routine for naps. Hang in there!

Try not to worry. They change so quickly at that age that it could all be different in a months time. If I had my time with dd again I wouldn't worry about bad habits or what everyone else's baby was doing and would do whatever worked so in your case I would go for a drive or a walk to get a bit of peace. I used to take a book and stop and read it in the park once she was asleep or if in the car park back up outside the house and relax ( only works if you only have one though). We also pushed her back and forwards in the pram in the house to get her to sleep and leave her in there once she fell asleep. I know it's hard now but I promise you won't remember most of this in a couple of years.

Hi wishful we've had similar issues with DD who is 9 weeks. I realised she wakes the second we get home, maybe because its too quiet? I think she likes noise because I worked in a noisy environment when pregnant. Now I put her by the washing machine or stick the radio on! It's gradually getting better but I still struggle to get her to sleep - always use the sling/car/pushchair so I think we're going to buy a swinging chair to see if that helps. If you go to Martin Lewis' money saving expert website there's discount and free shipping from Kiddicare at the moment so they've got some at £35ish.

Neither would mine. But have no fear - he did eventually and now naps for Britain.

Try not to worry.
