Help me transition from co-sleeping

Or help me get him out of my bed!

DS just turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. He's never been a good sleeper and has only slept through a handful of times. I'm PG and I need to get this sorted way before the baby comes.
Our routine right now is dinner, bath, bottle, teeth, and then cuddle to sleep in his bed (he's in a single bed). We aim for BT at 8, so he's asleep by 8:30. It usually takes about 20-30 min for him to fall asleep. Then I get up and have a bit of time with DH. I go to sleep in my bed and then when DS wakes in the night I go into his bed where I spend the rest of the night. Most night he wakes between 12-3, but there's not a pattern that I can see. He usually is up 6:30-7ish.
He's got his molars coming through and a cold right now, so the wakings are more frequent and lasting longer. Once he's feeling better, I need a plan to get him to sleep (hopefully all night) in his bed and me in mine. That's the dream (if I can ever sleep Shock).

I can't really help as my 2.6 year old is still in with me but bumping for you.

We got DS a bed which I put in our bedroom and he loves but rarely sleeps in because I never stuck to it (I missed his cuddles) and I still breastfeed so would end up putting him in my bed anyway.

Do you have a bed set up for him? can you make it into a big deal for him etc?

Like I say i can't really help but bumping.

He has a bed and his own room. We're going to paint and decorate it soon so we could make a big deal about that, picking new sheets etc, and see if that helps.
He hasn't had a bottle in the night for several months, so I can't do much there. DH wonders if since he's used to me being there when he falls asleep that me not being there when he wakes is part of the issue. At the weekend we're going to try to settle him to sleep by being in a chair next to the bed instead of in bed with him. I'm thinking there will be resistance. Confused

Stealth bump

DS only woke once last night so I think he's over his cold. So tonight is D-night. We try to running him around a lot the afternoon so he'll be tired at bedtime. Then I'll see how long it takes for him to settle with me not in bed with him. I think we'll keep dealing with the night wakings the same for now.
Any tips? I'm PG so can't reward myself with wine afterwards, but maybe chocolate.
