toddler and newborn sleep issues

DD1 is nearly 3yrs old, we have in the past couple of months got her to stay in her bed all night - she wakes to come to find us but willingly goes back to bed after saying hello. She usually also goes down easily with minimum fuss at 7pm. There has been an increasing amount of night wakings in the last few weeks of my pregnancy and obviously very unsettled when I was in hospital after CS.

Baby sister (DD2) came home on Sunday with me. DD1 wakes an unprecedented amount since, but if DD2 is crying at night then DD1 gets hysterical.

DH has three weeks off on leave. DD1 is also at nursery three days a week for now. I think DD1 needs to get used to a crying baby as there's going to be a few years of it ahead of us - DH thinks keeping baby quiet is paramount so as not to disturb DD1 ans has told me to feed her asap. Trouble is that she doesn't always want boob and I struggle to get to her fast enough after a CS.

Which option is best? Acclimatise toddler or stress of keeping baby quiet......

I think it's probably best to acclimatise the toddler rather than try and keep the newborn quiet. Babies just need to cry sometimes, your toddler will need to get used to that fact.

With all of the above in mind, I'm currently downstairs furiously rocking 5wo DS to try and keep him quiet whilst DH is upstairs trying to re-settle DS1 to sleep Confused
