Have never had to ask this before as dd has always slept like a log and have never had problems with putting her down.
This is the second night in a row where she has screamed hysterically when being put down and stands at the end of her cot literally screaming. Do i leave her? How long for?

how old is she

PinkTulips · 27/05/2006 20:23

could she be teething?

charliegirl25 · 27/05/2006 20:26

She turned 1 on thursday. No, i dont think she is teething i genuinely think that she just wants to stay up. We have had a few late nights with her as we have just got back off holidays. I am just not sure about the leave her to cry method that dp wants to do. She is really crying. But am convinced there is nothing wrong with her. Well there wasn't ten minutes ago before we put her to bed.

Have got her off to sleep now by rubbing her head, my back aches from leaning over the cot Little bugger seems like she has turned into a different child since turning 1. Not sleeping well, always whining, throwing herselp onto the floor in temper, not eating.....

aha! the terrible ones

i had to leave my dd to dry at around that age as it took longer and longer each night to get her down, and then she wouldn't stay down. it's up to you, don't do it if you're not sure you can follow through though as it'll only make the situation worse.

if you do do it though it should only take 2 nights or so before she gets the hint. i left dd but went in when things went quiet to check she was ok and straighten her out. if she wakes up i go in, tuck her in with a 'night night' and walk out again, that way she knows i'm there but she's not getting up.

Thanx pinktulips. I'm worried that it is all because i have relaxed with my routine of the one who shall not be mentioned, which has enabled me and ds1 to get a bit of life back. I used to ensure she slept at certain times during the day but we have been just letting her sleep as and when and this has seemed to kick all this bad temper and not sleeping thing off.
