Why is she NEVER tired?

DD has just turned 3. She has always been good at going to bed at 7.30, sometimes playing in her room for 30 mins or so before going to sleep.

Now however she stays awake till circa 10pm and constantly calls me or DH up to see her. We try to ignore but inevitably one of us needs to go up for one reason or another. She won't sleep in the day and just never seems to be tired anymore.

Where did I go wrong, and can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks

From the mother of a 21 month old who doesn't nap and sleeps only 8-6am you have all of my sympathy but no advice. Sorry!

Is her room dark and quiet? Remove the toys, no distractions she might just sleep? Then again some children just need less sleep! Fx just a phase!

It's unbelievable isn't it?! It's like she doesn't need to sleep but she's always in a foul mood in the mornings.

I did wonder about taking the toys out. There aren't many, just a dolls house she plays with really. Might cause a few nights' worth of tantrums though!

you have my sympathy. my dd hated sleep from birth.

has just started getting tired, she's 11 Sad

it's truly mind boggling and i tried every single thing in the book.

I do remember her getting worse at around 3, calling for me etc... on top of not feeling tired. It could be a phase. x

17 month old here manages 8 to 6 with only a short nap. I'm not impressed.

My 4 year old is the same, he is never tired and goes to sleep at about 9pm on the dot. I had hoped when he started school he'd go to sleep earlier - he did for about a month and then adjusted! I just get him bathed and into his pj's early and try and get him upstairs and ready earlier even if he doesn't sleep.

My mum says I was the same!

I have two of these....and a DH who needs a LOT of sleep. Not a happy combination!
