Dream feeds - are u an advocate or not?

My husband dream feeds our 4mth old boy each night at 10.30/11pm. Sometimes he has to wake him first. Baby then stil wakes at 2am/3am. I go to bed at 8pm so get some sleep before he comes into our room. It helped when he was feeding loads as a newborn but now I'm wondering if its a bit pointless and extra work for husband? It may also be making things worse or creating bad habits? What are your experiences? Baby is FF. Confused

Not sure if you got any replies on your other 25 posts (ha!) Would he wake up at the same time if you didnt dream feed? Maybe try that and go from there. I did the same when Evee was little as she had a habit of waking up and being annoying for around two hours as soon as we decided to go to bed. I wouldn't imagine this is creating bad habits for your son and if he takes it then an extra bit of milk would never hurt for fullness or extra nutrients. x

We tried dream feeding our ds at around 3 months in a bid to help him sleep longer but it never worked and he would wake up at 2/3am regardless. In the end, we just left him to sleep and he would generally sleep through until 2/3am which progressively got later and later until he dropped his night feeds and started sleeping through. We used a dummy to stretch out his night feed until he didnt need it which was around 5 months.

I have friends who raved about dream feeds but it never worked for us. They then had the problem of trying to drop the 10.30/11pm feed which caused other issues!

My advice is to go with your instinct as you know your baby better than anyone else.

I like it. Often you go to bed at 11pm and baby wakes at 11.45! At least if you wake and feed then you get a few decent hours before first waking.
