Where can I put my baby to nap during the day?

Hi,
My 14 week old baby boy won't go in his cot or moses basket during the day. He only likes laps or his car seat. Is it unsafe for a baby to nap in his car seat for 2 hrs or so? Also, he is too big for a sling really as he is 16lbs and I wouldn't be able to support him. Does anyone have any ideas as finding it too restrictive to sit with him on my lap all the time! He just cries and cries if i put him in his cot. He will sleep it at night though.

I think most babies prefer a lap or sling. A good sling should be comfortable for at least a year which one do you have? If you don't want to leave him to cry- I never could- a good sling may be your best bet. I used to be able to get him to sleep in the pram sometimes too, and that would be lying flat, so safer for longer naps. But they mustn't nap indoors in a snowsuit or too many layers so if you get him to sleep by going for a walk you must uncover him plenty when coming inside

My baby is exactly the same but if I put her down after she has fallen asleep she will sleep on a fleece or on the mat of her babygym. Bizarre as she will wake and cry if I try to put her in her moses basket! Hope you find somewhere that works for you

mine naps in his buggy most of the time. He refuses to go in the cot in the day so it is less hassle for me to strap him in the buggy and push him around for ten minutes. I usually get a good half hour to myself afterwards once I have parked him in the hallway. Will yours nap in his pram at all?

Until recently at least one nap a day had to be a sling nap. My baby is 21lb now and I can comfortably front carry him in my Bondolino for a nap, and of course I could back carry if I got around to learning how to do it. Sounds like you need a better sling (if you want to carry on using one of course)

Babies shouldn't spend too long in car seats and bouncing chairs and baby swings and the like but a nap of an hour or two isn't going to do any harm.

I wouldn't use a car seat. How about his buggy?
