Grumpiness in the evening - to bed or not?

Iam not a morning person and would like DS to stay asleep until 7.30-8am (shushing all your laughter as I type) He normally wakes between 7 and 8am so we are on track. He gets especially tired in the evening around 6.15pm and becomes very grumpy and hard to amuse. I try to keep him occupied until 7pm when we bath him and bed by 8pm. He naps usually in the morning around 10-11am then again around 2-3pm. Do you react immediately to grumpiness at nighttime by starting bedding down or do you keep your lo stimulated? I think I need to get him bedded earlier but hate the thought of earlier waking.

Bumping for you. Same here only DS is hyper, and I mean mega hyper after his bath. I need to peel him from the ceiling some nights. He eventually crashes out around 8pm. DS usually wakes at 5am, but I shove him a boob and that keeps him asleep for another couple of hours Grin

Oh swivel do you think he gets overtired?

9mo DS has a 6pm bedtime and wakes up anytime between 5.45 - 7am. If we keep him up any later than that then he goes bonkers! He has a morning nap between about 9.30 and 10.15, then an afternoon one between around 1pm and 2.15. I wake him up from both of these if necessary so he doesn't sleep too much in the day. Early bedtime works for us as I have work in the evenings, so he's in bed when I go out, which is easier for DH or babysitters!

You don't say how old ds is (or I might keep missing it) but 8pm seems late for a child who still has two naps a day. I would put him to bed at 7pm (it shouldn't affect his wake up time at all actually).
