Okay, I have a 9mo ds. He sleeps 12 hours a night, straight through, no problems (cue some Envyhisses I know, sorry...just lucky!) (now touching wood in case have jinxed myself!)

Except... he sleeps from 10.30pm until 10.30 am.
This actually fits in well with our (me and dh) own routines around working etc. I know it will have to change eventually - if it doesn't change unexpectedly before that!, but what do other MNers think....??

Wow!! Don't think I could stand it actually, I like my evenings when dd has gone to bed, and I like my early mornings with her too. Must be nice to get the lie ins though.

ssd · 18/04/2006 14:41

would miss the evenings but would LOVE the lie-ins!

just enjoy it.

Piggiesmum · 18/04/2006 14:50

If your hapy with it for now, make the most of it.

I like having the evening free for just me and dh. However I would also love the lie-ins if it happened that way too.

Either way has an advantage and a disadvantage. It just depends which you would prefer more. If your happy with it it doesn't matter whay anyone else thinks

I'm making the most of the lie-ins while I can.

MIL is determined that this won't last and he'll suddenly start waking earlier...and maybe she will be right...but it's lasted for about 6months so far.

Maybe it's just that good old maternal-guilt thing, I feel as if I should be getting him into a more 'normal' routine. Even though he is content with the way it is now....

BTW he is 8mo not 9!!! It was a typo, I promise!!Blush

If you're happy, baby's happy - what's the problem Wink

Auntymandy · 18/04/2006 15:10

if it suits you thats fine!
My first slept 8 til 8 from 10 weeks!!!

madmarchhare · 18/04/2006 15:13

Think its great. DS doesnt go to bed until 8.30, we get up 9. We sometimes get, 'Oh, thats a bit late isnt it?'

jambot · 19/04/2006 09:26

My dd has always slept 6:30 to 7:00, which suits us as we are up and about anyway, and also get a full evening alone, which is great. I think it's fine for now, but as he gets older and has to go to nursery etc, these times are going to become a problem. If I were you, I would slowly start pushing his bedtime back by 15 minutes every few days, so that within a few weeks he is in bed at an earlier hour. Your daily routine will probably change accordingly, but just think of those evenings you and dh will have to yourselves.

Jessajam · 19/04/2006 13:00

If ds went to bed at 6.30, I would see him for half an hour each weekday Sad. He goes to nursery 4 afternoons a week as dh cares for him in the mornings and all day thursdays.
I will, obviously, need to change the timings eventually ( even if miraculously dh's working hours don't change...school is unlikely to start at 11am, even in 4 years time!! he he he) and when I do, I plan to do it bit by bit just as you suggest jambot. I also don't want to leave it too long...

Thanks everyone for the replies.....it seems I may have the latest to bed baby on MN! Rock and roll!!!! Grin
