How many naps does your 3/4 month old have?

Just that really! My 14 week old twins have 3 or 4 naps, lasting between 30 mins and an hour.
I sometimes find them overtired at bathtime and am wondering if they're naps are too short / frequent / god knows...

Anyway just interested to hear what other people are doing with babies of a similar age.

Tia!

Hi Nancy
I can't really remember the exact naps at that age for my twins but I think it was something like:
6.30-7am wake and feed
8am nap for an hour
1030-11ish feed
1-3 nap
3pm feed
Sometimes a catnap at 5ish, sometimes not
6pm bath, 630 feed and bed.

I do have it all written down somewhere - I used to write everything down! Will take a look tonight when I get in from work

My LO is 15 weeks:
wakes at 8, sleeps 10ish for 30mins - 1hr 30mins
Then naps at about 1pm, 4pm, 7pm for about 30 mins.
She then goes down between 9-10pm, which I know is late. But she does then sleep through. I am working on making bedtime earlier but I've noticed that when her naps are longer about an hour each she is much more settled, getting her an hour is a a struggle though.

My dd2 is 4 months old. I think it's a tricky age. She is often very tired by bedtime., especially if she wakes from her last nap before 4pm.

Past 6 months or so a real routine developed with dd1, but before that each day was different. I'm not sure there's anything you can do until then tbh!

Today dd2 napped 9:15-10, 11:30-12:15 and 1:15-3:15, she woke for the day at 7:45. She's just dropping off now, so the last awake period is really long in comparison to the others.

Ceevee, I can't believe you wrote it all down! V organized!!!
Katie, lucky you that she is sleeping through! Mine still wake at least twice nightly but are usually down by half past 8. I also feel like they're much less whingey if I can get them to sleep for a hour plus but not having much success.
Crochet, thanks for sharing, what you said has reassured me!

I think part of the prob is that their bath and bed might be a little late for them. They are tired by 6 half past ish but dh doesn't get in from work til 7 and its difficult slash impossible to do it alone (although I guess some people must have to!). So not much to be done about that!

Nancy - I would never have remembered which one had fed and slept if I hadn't written it down!
Just checked and actually morning nap was 9am for an hour rather than 8am

My DH is never home before they are asleep. I used bath seats in the bath - made it very easy to bath both together. Or just bath one and put other in a bouncy chair - my two only get bathed every other night anyway!

Nancy54 · 05/01/2013 07:24

well i reckon if i put one in a bouncy chair while i did the other he / she would just scream - but then maybe that's because they're overtired and if i did it earlier they wouldn't.

What are these bath seats? i haven't heard of them. could you fit them in a children's bath or do you need a normal bath? we only have a shower so i have a small plastic bath tub.

Ah if you only have a baby bath it might be tricky to get two in! We had these, or they sell them on amazon too

I tended to bath earlier before they got tired so it was a nice long playtime - even now I bath them straight after their tea at 530-6 if bathing them one at a time (they're nearly 14 mo now)

Nancy54 · 05/01/2013 08:58

ok thanks ceevee, i do think i need to bath them earlier. might try the bouncy chair thing about 5:30 / 6 ish and see if it's better. But then i would still have to wait for dp to do bed time after 7pm. Although you said you do it on your own - any tips greaty appreciated!!
Dtb has a bottle before bed and dtg used to but she's refusing it at the mo so i've been breast feeding her.
