Im still struggling with my baby going down to sleep at bedtime (as per my previous post) but I am also really struggling with her day time naps and really don't know what I should be doing so wondered if you could all help me please? Her naps currently look like this:

Wake up at 7.30am
nap at 9.30am (in car) for 30-45 mins
Nap at 12.30pm (in buggy) for 30-45 mins
Nap at 15.30pm (in buggy) for 30 mims
bedtime at 18.30pm although she doesn't go to sleep for ages (see other thread!)

I am unable to put her down for naps in her cot as she cries and cries and will not settle. I am also unable to get her to sleep longer at each nap :(

Please help me! X

I always tried a 2-3-4 technique. 2 hours after wake ds used to nap, then 3 hours after waking another nap, then 4 hours after waking its bedtime! Now as my name suggests my ds was a rubbish sleeper (still is when he feels ill/teeth) so it didn't always work.....some days would look very similar to yours and many of my friends were the same. Ds will still only have a decent nap when home or at grans and in complete silence!!!! The joys.
Just a suggestion....one which I found helpful a while back. Might be worth a try.
Good luck.

Mine is the same age and has 4 naps a day, about 2 hours apart, lasting 35 mins each. I'm longing for longer naps too but for now have to be grateful that he goes to sleep quite easily in cot, sling or pushchair.

Thanks forced and Lucy. Forced, what about if she is rubbing her eyes etc before her next nap is due though?

Looks exactly like my DD at six months!

She didn't nap in her cot until she was about 9 months old, it was around the same time that she started to nap for longer than about 35 minutes too! It all kind of all happened naturally as she got old enough to manage it, I didn't sleep train her, it will come when she is able.

I used to drive, push or sling for all naps! The sling really helped as I started using it indoors more, once she feel asleep I would lie her down on our bed/in her cot etc to get her used to it!

Sounds just like my dd2. no cot for her either. Feed to sleep too! Path of least resistence. Swore it would be different this time. We also cosleep. I do put her in cot (which is open to our bed at present) but she always wiggles right over to lie up against me. I feel your pain.

Thank god im not the only one! Everyone in rl appear to have perfect babies who have read all the textbooks :(
I spend my entire life worrying about her routine and sleep training and its zapping all the enjoyment out of it. I just don't want to get it wrong!
Nov, we were co-sleeping (she was in a 3 sided cot pushed up against my side of the bed) however we have progressed this week to cot on other side of our bedroom, before moving her in to her own room (more to wean me off her than the other way around!) its much harder now though as I actually have to get up and go and get her rather than just roll over! Not entirely sure of the benefit just yet :S

llama, we used to use a sling all the time as it calmed her down beautifully and she would nod off every tine. However she is now going through a phase of hating the sling and so this is no good right now! Makes be feel better though that it will all happen naturally eventually.... X
