DH night sweating

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope this is right!

My DH sweats massively at night. He's always done it, since his teens apparently. He is slim, very fit and active, and is not sweaty in the daytime. But at night, I can wake up with the sheets actually wet, and my back and legs cold, wet and clammy where we'd been snuggled up. The sheets need washing so often, and his side of the mattress is stained yellow.

To be fair the room is relatively warm at the moment (about 18 degrees) because DS is still sleeping in our room, but normally it's much colder& he's no different. Bizarrely he does it less in the summer when it's hot - it seems to be to do with central heating.

Currently he is sleeping in a moisture wicking Tshirt, which seems to help a little, but has anyone else had any experience of this, or any thoughts on what might help?

Watching with interest as DH is the same. It is grim and his pillow & side of the bed smell! What's a moisture wicking t-shirt and where do I get one?

What kind of bedding do you have? We had to take the anti-allergy mattress protector off because DH was sweating. My mum suggested a feather duvet would be better than the synthetic one we have because it would breathe better but I haven't tried it yet.

A moisture wicking Tshirt is the type the sell in outdoors shops for hikers etc.

Our bedding is all synthetic. I'd wondered about the mattress, we have a memory foam mattress but I uses to have a sprung mattress when I lived by myself before we met, and I'm sure he didn't sweat in that.

Sounds like me, sometimes anyway. I prefer a much cooler bed than DW - there's often a pile of blankets on one side while I have a leg stuck out on mine. We have seasonal "discussions" about when to add/remove extra bits of duvet.

What would work for me is a duvet that as well as having thin and thick sections for summer/winter could be divided down the middle so you could have one thick side and one thin. Not sure if such a thing exists though.

DH is the same. Reading with interest!

My DH suffers from this and he is super fit and healthy. He went to the GP before Christmas and was subscribed some meds for indigestion (a possible cause). He has also been for blood tests incl. for diabetes and we're just waiting for the results.

It can be a symptom of a more serious illness so best check it out with a GP.
