Hello
Blooming Marvelous do one, www.blooming_marvelous.com (i think)
There is one here too, I found it whilst looking for mattresses:

I didn't use one, but I think they are an excellent idea. My ds used to feed every few minutes when she was 'brand new', in the hospital, cos I couldn't get up or move around they used to tuck her in with me, which is what I did when I got home. This meant I never slept properly, scared of crushing her, and she went through a stage of only sleeping on my chest. She still doesn't go through the night now, at 7 months! x

We got one from ToysRUs, we particularly like that model because it was much more sturdy than the one sold by Mothercare.
We didn't use it for long as a cot bed because DS wriggled a lot and ended sliding between the bed and the cot!. But, it is very good as a toddler bed. I left one side down during the day so it worked like a daybed/bench, and at night, with the side half way up DS didn't fall out.

it's exactly the same model but at TOysRUs it costs £40 extra.

essbee · 12/04/2006 01:35

eeek!!! The one I found has free postage too (no i'm not rubbing it in - sorry!!)

Chandra · 12/04/2006 01:36

NO problem, I bought mine form ToysRUs for £120 so I was a it surprised they have gone up so much in price in the mena time.

BTW, the only disadvantage between this model with respect to the Mothercare one is that it doens't have wheels, which could have helped to remove the cot from the side of the bed during the day. But again, compared to Mothercare's, this model seems much better quality. We have had it for almost 3 years and with the exception of a teething rail bwing broken by DH is as good as new.

It might depend on your cot but I was able to use my normal cot as a bedside cot just by not putting on one side (the one that goes up and down) - maybe I was just lucky that the levels worked out ok and it was stable without the extra side on. Was excellent with ds1 who only wanted to sleep in our bed - meant I could slide him over or even feed him while he was in the cot

We have one of these.

We have a wooden frame bad though which means there can be a gap between the bed and the cot. We stuffed it with towels but wasn't ideal. These seem to work best with divan beds.

It was a bit tricky to put up but is easy to use once set-up.

Personally I didn't find it made night feeds any easier though. I used to push the cot away from the bed so I could sit up and put my legs down to get ds up to feed him. This is because we didn't master feeding lying down for ages and I found reaching across to lift him up quite awkward if I wasn't facing him. In the end I had the cot really near the bed but with the side down (as in most cots) for the first 3 months or so. After that we left for the U.S.A anyway and took a travel cot to use for the next 6 months.

Now we are back ds sleeps in it as a normal cot in his room - he is 16 months old.

Good thing is though that when we start him on a bed we are aiming to try him in the cot with the side slid over. That way if it doesn't work we can easily put the side back. We can thus test him out in a bed with no side so to speak without buying a bed.

We got ours from Mothercare.

Hi - if you are still after a bed side crib try the BedNest which can be found at www.bednest.com. It promises safe sound sleep!
