Baby Led Sleeping

I'm not co-sleeping with my almost two year old against my own volition and against my better judgement because I am too soft to do controlled crying and if he wakes his three year old sister that's the whole house up and everyone will need a story before they go back down and although it is hilarious that DS rattles his cot bars shouting "awake, awake" it is not quite so hilarious at 4am for the fifth time that night...

Oh no. Not me.

I am doing Baby Led Sleeping,

(It's all about the branding dontcha know)

Nought like a bit of re-branding. Grin

This is my favourite thread ever!!!
cant stop laughing. Im totally converted BLS!!
(also got a cot gathering dust by the side of the bed).
re makin a rod for our own backs? I need a rod for my bad back from the bloody awful sleeping positions coz dd takes up sooo much room!!

Romilly70 · 22/09/2012 22:06

Oh thank god; at least i am not the only one.
DS (23 months) is in the middle of my double bed. I think i am going to sleep in his single bed so i can get some uninterrupted shuteye.

It is all so wrong (DP is sleeping in another house due to DS's shenanigans, but that is a whole other story...)

Almandine · 22/09/2012 22:07

Oh, I always looked at it wrong.....I saw it as baby lead staying awake and toddler getting up ridiculously early.

If only I had known about BLS, I could have felt smug instead of hysterical for several years of my life.

Great thread Grin I am an avid follower of the Baby Led Sleeping method and am feeling rather smug about it as I do it so well.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 22/09/2012 22:15

Whereabouts are you tunnocks? DS likes to sit up and clap round about 4am. Maybe we should set up webcams and they can clap at each other instead of disturbing us.

Ooh, he'd love that. He loves sharing food (read: forcing as much fruit into his grandma's mouth as humanly possible)

choceyes · 22/09/2012 22:37

I do BLS too! ! My ds started sleeping through occasionally at 3yrs and now at nearly 4yrs sleeps through every night! It is a bloody miracle. He even lets us have s lie in and sleeps till about 7.30 at the weekend. I love him soooo much.
DD (2yrs) is another "bad" sleeper, wakes a couple of times a night for boobie mostly, but again she sleeps till about 7/7.30am.

I'd much rather have it this way than have babies who sleep through but wake iPhone anytime before 6am. Oh no I can't cope with waking up that early to start the day.

I have had the opportunity to congratulate DD and DS on their brilliance at BLS since the arse crack of dawn this morning -and- -several- -times- -overnight-. I am going to casually drop in the acronym at toddler group on Monday and see how quickly it catches on. 'oh haven't you read the BLS book by VerityClinch. It's vair good. Really intuitive parenting' while mainlining coffee

VerityClinch · 23/09/2012 07:31

Shit, do I now actually have to write a book before Monday? Smile

Bls....I like it. Bloody inlaws keep calling it "rod for your own back". Then feel free to announce that their DCs all slept through at 6wks. Bastards

JeewizzJen · 23/09/2012 12:18

Genius! Total genius!!

Jergens · 13/10/2012 10:13

Verity, is there a BLS app yet? I like to be able access your wisdom on the go ya know?

VerityClinch · 13/10/2012 11:31

Ah, you need to befriend me on The Facebook for the benefit of my - ahem - wisdom at all hours of the day and night.

(I do not understand The Twitter)

Oh no, another trend I've failed at Sad

We tried BLS for months but ds used the bed as a trampoline and I got fed up with being headbutted so put him in his cot where he still screams and bounces all night

VerityClinch · 13/10/2012 21:19

Nonononono

You're still BLS-ing. You're responding to his needs. Him sleeping in your bed wasn't meeting his needs, so you stopped that. That's BLS.

Ok, him sleeping in his cot isn't working either. You're having a temporary break to fortify and regroup. That's BLS.

Soon you will be on a blow up mattress in his room, shussshhhing in your half-sleep all night.

That's BLS too

Smile
