Cot bed duvets and pillows

Figured I'd post this here.

My DS is 19 months and hasn't worn grow bags for some time now as he seemed to find them quite constricting. He's been fine in the summer just in PJs but he is soon going to need a duvet as it is getting colder. So, I'm looking for recommendations for a duvet, pillow and covers.

Is it worth getting a decent one, or would I be better getting a cheap one? Is one enough or do I need two in case he's sick or his nappy leaks? Any suggestions for one which is lightweight? Plus how do you keep them on?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm hopelessly optimistic this will sort out my son's sleeping problems, hence my desire to get it right!

Depends how long you plan to keep him in the cot bed and if you're planning for any other children to use it after! If so, then I'd pay a bit more for a decent quality one. If you're planning to move to a single bed soon, then I wouldn't bother.

For a pillow I chose one that washed well at 60, was a child's pillow and not too thick. It spent its first year being thrown out the cot, but now he likes it so much it has to go on holiday with us.

Personally wouldn't get two duvets as I don't have the space to store them. We never had a cot bed, so straight from bags in the cot to a single bed. If it were to get wet (never has done) then I'd just give him a blanket. It would only be for one night. And get one you can wash in your washing machine at home rather than having to take to the dry cleaners.

As to keeping them on... I put it back on when I go to bed, then when he wakes at night...

Dd went into her bed at 15 months. We used the white company cot bed fitted sheet and placed the waterproof sheet underneath this so if there was ever an accident the mattress would be protected.
We also got the pillow and duvet from them too. Very light weight but surprisingly warm. All are washable so if there is an accident it's very easy to wash and tumble dry.
Her covers stay on the bed mainly due to the bed guard still being used.
We also bought a throw to put over her if she was a little cold, e weight of this stops it from sliding.
The white company do good sales and we get mn discount, so it doesn't work out too much more expensive

Just a 4 tog duvet - ikea do nice cheap ones. Any adult ones are far too thick for tiny kids.

DS (19 months) has an ikea duvet too and it seems good quality. For summer I just used a big cellular blanket.

We've got an Asda little angels one. Its hypoallergenic & cost £8. Not used it yet but seems decent quality.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I particularly like the idea of the single duvet turned sideways, so will definitely have a look at that.
