3 week old DS2 is waking after a maximum of one hour's sleep, often as little as 30 minutes. He wakes up in obvious pain from trapped wind (grimacing, straining, drawing up his legs, screaming).
So I'm sleeping in 45 minute bursts, managing about 3 hours a night. I can catch up on some sleep during the day as DH is looking after DS1 at the moment. But he goes back to work next week and I won't get an opportunity to nap during the day. Really not sure how I will cope on so little sleep, so grateful for any advice on how I can deal with the wind / get DS2 to sleep for slightly longer. A couple of 2 hour stints each night (for both of us) would be bliss!
DS2 is EBF. I'm feeding on demand, and most of the time when he wakes up I end up feeding him, even if only for a few minutes, as this (temporarily) settles him. I'm trying to make sure I empty one breast fully before offering the other one. DS2 is gaining weight and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies. He possets after bigger feeds, but not excessively.
We started him on infacol a few days ago, and I burp him in the middle of each feed and, if he isn't asleep, at the end. I usually (but not always) get a burp out of him.
Any ideas, or do I have to resign myself to being a sleep-deprived zombie for the next couple of months?
