Heat, teeth, bad dreams, developmental or dropping nap ( 21months)

Hi again, I end up in here every few months when DDs sleep goes haywire. It is usually teething related but I can't see any coming at the moment. She has been waking For around 2 hours nearly every night for a couple of weeks. She sounds really distressed when we go in, then calms down, then we end up in and out of her room for around 2 hours. She won't co sleep or go back to sleep if one of us sleeps in her room.

Her room is boiling, so thought it might be that, but she is also developing language at a rate of knots, so maybe it's that.

The other issue is some afternoons she is refusing to nap, these are the only nights she sleeps through. But surely she is far too young to not have a nap at all? DS napped until he was 4!

Until recently DD slept for 2 hours in the afternoon and for around 13-14 hours at night (I know). Then it dropped to 12-12.5 hours at night and a 2 hour nap. So I can't believe that suddenly she only needs 12 hours and no nap?

I am reluctant to drop the nap in case this is just a phase, but I would obviously like a full nights sleep!

Can anyone offer any advice? Or tell me their toddler did similar and then went back to normal?

Well, it could be any one of those things Grin. If her room is boiling have you tried a fan? If its developmental it will just pass.

As for the nap, why not try her without for a couple of days and see how she goes on?

what time does she wake & when does she usually nap?

Maybe she's trying to tell you something by refusing to nap? Don't compare her to your DS; yes, 21 months is young to drop the nap but 4 is also older than average.

My DD was on 45 mins at 20 months and dropped it altogether by 2. You may have to accept its on it's way out.

Id suggest cutting it down but not out as she could end up getting overtired.
