8mo just started sleeping on tummy but has a muslin as a comforter. Dangerous?

My LO has just started rolling (a lot) from her back to tummy. She can't roll back yet tho. She has always gone to sleep with a muslin as a comforter since we started getting her to self settle at about 4.5months. This has been ok til now cos on her back her mouth and nose are free and the muslin is breathable. However, now she is laying on her tummy to sleep (even tho I still lay her down on her back to start every nap and bed time sleep), I worry that this could be dangerous as she could squash the muslin into her face and obstruct her mouth and nose.

Does anyone have any experiences like this/advice of what to do?

Should I allow her to keep muslin or just go cold turkey and take it away from her now?

DD had a breathable muslin. I tried it because I'm quite PFB and even folded and right on my nose, I could breathe through it. Is it marked as 'from birth'?

Hi, my 8 mo sleeps on tummy with a muslin. I feel comfortable with it. At that age they can move themselves and/or the muslin around if in the way. They can also breathe through tiny gaps if need be.

Would go with what you feel comfortable with ultimately.

In the very unlikely event that she managed to compact the muslin against her face enough to prevent her breathing, she would just move her head or roll away, just as an adult would.

6mo DD like to sleep with a comforter. I've gone for one of the smaller, velvet type ones, the ones with the animal heads on. No idea if it is safer - probably not as a muslin is more breathable, but I was worried that a muslin was so big that she might potentially get it wrapped around her and not be able to move her head.

Does she sometimes sleep near you or in her pushchair with a muslin? DD covers her face wherever she sleeps and so I've been able to watch her and see that when she gets too hot or the cloth makes it harder for her to breath she does roll another way, or fling it away. The same as she sleeps completely face down sometimes, but will eventually move her head. If you can see what she does then its very reassuring!
