Hi, my daughter's 14 months now and sleeps an 11 hour night: 8pm-7am (occasionally 10 and a half), then from 10.30-11.45ish and again from 3-4.15. I know at some point she will go to one nap a day but I don't know how to tell when this is, and how to go about doing it, i.e. fitting it around meal times etc. Any advice much appreciated. She's my first.

evita my dd is the same age and i was talking to a friend today about her twin boys and when they gave up their naps, it was 2.5yrs and she says they will let you know when its time for just one nap and then no naps

My ds (2.5) has had one nap in the middle of the day since he was c.18 months, normally just after lunch.Since he's got a bit older this can be quite flexible - sometimes he goes down at 11.30, or if we're doing stuff and have a later lunch it might be as late as 2. He sleeps for 1-2 hours. After lunch seems quite a good time (and is what GF recommends!!).

Evita my 15 month old has only had one nap a day for quite a while now. When she started going to playgroup it was from 10.30 to 12.30 so she would then come home, have lunch and nap. Now she only naps for between 1 and 2.5 hours then.

Evita .... I reckon you will find that your DD will want to go to sleep later and later for her morning nap ... and so will settle on an after lunch nap ... by which time she will give up her afternoon nap as she will be able to go from 2 or 3pm till bedtime.
In terms of dropping daytime naps altogether ... I found with DS that from 2 if he slept during the day he wanted to go to bed later and later at night ... so it took about 6 months of having a sleep some days and some days not before we dropped the daytime sleeps altogether ...
HTH!
