toddler cot bed hell

My DD, 21 months has really struggled with bedtimes since the clocks changed in March and I stopped bf at same time (doh). She used to be a 7-6 sleeper with a long nap, now I am lucky to get her down before 8.30pm. She sleeps a good 2 hrs 30 mins on Fridays and weekends when she doesn't attend her nursery but her sleep has also reduced there since she changed rooms.

We had to move her in to a toddler bed because she is very tall and a great climber and overnight worked out how to get out but getting her to sleep is now even worse. Even if she is exhausted she runs round taking stuff out of drawers and faffing with the (minimal) soft toys we have left in there (all other toys have been removed). Once she's asleep she does go through but I am pg again and DH is working late alot and I am shattered. Ideas, thoughts? Do they get bored eventually....

Hi
Have you done the full routine you know bath milk story bed?
I wasn't so in routine in the beginning but when she stared messing about i started a proper one and she setled much better.

And also have you tried bringing bedtime earlier. sometimes they do play up more if exhausted and are worse as they are all worked up.

How does she react if you leave her to it to play? On odd occasion, DD has been messing around at bedtime and so I have told her that she can read/play if she wants to, but Mummy has to go now. She will get into bed and fall asleep when she's ready. It's quite rare that she doesn't willingly go to bed though, but she is very 'bedtime routine' with a bath, storytime etc and we are quite slow over it (probably takes 1 hour/1 hour 20 to do the full routine and storytime).

I would agree that she is harder work at bedtime if overtired - maybe the nursery need to make more effort to ensure she has her full nap time??

Thanks for comments- I have spoken to nursery and they have been making a real effort and she has had 2 hours today and yesterday. To no avail.

She has a really strict bedtime routine since she was about three months old- bath, book. milk, bed. But now she gets in her room and she just goes mental- running around for an hour. If you leave her- she grizzles a bit and then starts running round the room. I found her doing handstands earlier.
Eventually she falls asleep on the bed....but it can take up to 2 hours....

Im at a loss!
