Dreamfeed 10.30, waking 4am, not hungry 7am

Hello Ladies,

I need some help pleeease... my 5 1/2 month baby boy gets bottle-fed:
10am, 2.30am, 6pm and then for a dreamfeed at 10.30pm.
he then wakes up at 4.30am super hungry, so I feed him a whole feed but is then not hungry at 7/8am for a top-up, so the next feed then is 10am. he gets 240ml (almost) at every feed - APART from the 10.30pm feed where he doesn't seem very hungry and leaves 1/3-1/2 of the bottle.... so no wonder really I guess that he is hungry at 4.30am. It used to work to put the dummy in at 4.30 (after finishing whole bottle at 10.30pm) and he would go until 5.30ish, but not working anymore....

I wonder if I should drop the 10.30pm feed, feed him at 4am (if he lasts until then) and then top-up at 7/8am (which he refuses at the moment)

Btw this is 2nd boy, my first one is 4 yrs, I seem to remember never had any problems with him, probably just can't remember :-)

Anyone going through the same or any suggestions super super welcome!!

We went cold turkey on the dream feed when DTs started leaving most of the bottle but they had already stopped the 3am feed. Might be worth dropping the 4am first and then he would be hungry and finish the 7am feed - might take a couple of days to get used to it but could push him to go through, even if he wakes at say, 6, its better than doing a 4am feed!

I would drop the dream feed if he's not taking it. You'll still have a night waking and probably earlier than 4am but he should then take his morning bottle without fuss. You may well find that solids resolves this problem when you start him on food, it did for us.

Thanks girls, tried dropping it (DFeed) but then woke up at midnight hungry... so fed him all bottle then, still woke up at 4am....argh maybe it's more of a habit as THEN he only took half of the 4am bottle, so obviously not v hungry... heyho, you are right I need to push the 4am feed forward - it's just so tiring to go in every 10 minutes to console him until even just 5am :-)...

Have you tried diluting the 4am feed?
