Sitting//banging head/feeding to sleep...gah!

Hi

Ds is 10.5 months. He learnt to sit himself up from lying down about 2 months ago, and shortly after, to pull himself to standing.

THis has caused us a few problems with sleeping, as no matter how tired he is, as soon as you lie him down he sits back up, and even when he lies himself back down, he still just sits himself up again. I thought this would happen for a couple of weeks after he learnt how to do it but its still happening for every nap and bedtime, and he often gets quite angry - he literally can't seem to stop himself doing it! Before he learnt this, he was becoming reasonable good at self settling, but since then he just wails and wails, and so as a result I seem to end up feeding him to sleep most of the time now to stop all the sitting up!

Also, often when he stirs at night, he sits himself up half asleep and then either can't get back down or falls over and hits his head, then wakes up properly and starts wailing. Sometimes he ends up standing and then he gets himself properly stuck as he hasnot learnt how to sit back down yet. And sometimes he crawls in his sleep too and just crawls in to the end of the cot.

Does anyone have any advice? I am keen not to carry on with feeding to sleep as we were doing so well with the self settling before, but at the same time, I don't want bedtime to become a massive battle.

Thanks Smile

Also, are there any safe ways to pad cot sides at all?!

I either rolled up towels as bumpers or wedged really thin pillows along the inside of the cot between the mattress and bars to stop my dd's banging into the sides and waking up
