Ikea toddler beds any good?

dd needs a bed as though just 20 months she is nearly too big for cot and can almost climb out of it. Plus dc 2 on way and want her in bed before baby comes so she doesn't feel ousted from the cot. What do you reckon - any recommendations for ikea ones?

DD1 had this one (DD2 is about to go into it) it is great because on the smallest setting the scroll edges stop them falling out until they are settled into bed sleeping. We hung a princess canopy over the top and she loved her princess bed.

here sorry I forgot to add it - dinner was calling :)

My DD has this bed She is now nearly five and a half and it's still plenty big enough for her.

InfiniteFairylights · 31/07/2012 21:17

Although, in hindsight, I would probably have bought the one that blueberry linked to, if my poor sleep deprived brain had registered that it was extendable!

yellowflowers · 31/07/2012 21:49

I don't think extendable one would fit in our house. Extended I mean. I love the other one though.

It extends to 3 lengths so gave us lots of use, lthough we never got to fully extended.

DD's best friend has the pine version of hers, it has different animals on it, they both seem very happy with their beds. I liked it because it's fairly simple and would do boy or girl, which could be handy for your second one too...

We have the same one as Infinite (in red), bought it second hand and it's way sturdier than the Mamas and Papas cotbed we had, and having seen 6 year old friend in it, it will last a good few years - and then you can Still sell it for £20 Smile

We got DS3 the kritter bed but with no animals on. (it may possibly have a different name but looks the same!) When we changed the rooms round DS1 slept in it for a few months. He's 9 and although he came right to the bottom of it he was comfy and happy.

We have the Minnen bed for dd3. She is 5 and it's now on the second setting which will last her for at least another three years I think. I like them. They are sturdy and reasonably priced.

MousyMouse · 01/08/2012 11:12

dc1 is still in a toddler bed at 5.6y but will move to a mid sleeper soon so that dc2 can have it.
very sturdy and reasonably cheap.

Another vote for Ikea Minnen. DD aged 3 loves hers. 5yo cousin also has one. Looks lovely and good price. Also as said earlier, scrolled edge stops them falling out which will be useful at 20mths.

ds has the Kritter bed - and may I say a massive thank you to Ikea for making the only bed I could find with a black cat on, which he was adamant he had to have - he's 7 and it's still going strong.
