Hot weather ruining sleep?

My 13 week DS is not an easy sleeper and I had just managed to get him into an evening routine of bath, feed, cuddle, sleep, putting him down awake with his dummy. He would then wake Twice for a feed. He is very very sensitive to the heat, he often gets overheated in the daytime and gets very stressed out. This last two days have been terrible for him and he is point blank refusing to settle unless in bed with me, screaming and screaming and thrashing about in his cot, when normally he goes into his cot wide awake and happy after his feed. Obviously him sleeping in this heat is far more important than his routine, I couldn't possibly leave him in that amount of distress in this heat. However, is it going to have ruined all the hard work I put in getting him to go to bed?! It's not just selfish, he's much happier when he's had a good nights sleep. I suppose I'm just looking for reassurance that I have done the right thing. He is currently flat out next to me on our bed, just in hs nappy with the fan on!

I can't reassure you, I'm afraid, as I have yet to suss out solutions myself. But I just wanted to commiserate!

I think you're lucky to have a means of settling him in this heat, if it is any consolation. Our room has been 29 degrees at bedtime and my DS is sleeping so badly (though that could be due to so many other factors besides the heat!)

At least it should get cooler tomorrow...

Thank you for the sympathy...! It helps knowing we're all in it together! Have taken to drastic house cooling methods now and sacrificing blackout blind for fresh air in the hope that it might make him a bit happier. I feel so miserable complaining about the heat when the summer's been so crappy, but at least I got a tiny bit of sleep then!

Weeeeel he's only 13 weeks old and yes you might have had the same issue regardless of the heat. They change so much in the first year, just when you think you've nailed it, they surprise you Grin

Tonight, I've had to set up camp downstairs as the temperature in the bedrooms is 27C plus, but more like 24C in the living room.

Joy...

We've got the same issue - 30c in DD's room last night. I has her in a nappy only and a fan on - she seemed ok (but she's a bit older - 8 months)
