Hi, my 18 week old used to be on EASY until we went on holiday and i decided to feed before naps as i was afraid hed become dehydrated in the heat!! So now he is used to feeding to sleep again & is doing the sleep regression thing & developmental leap blah blah!!
The thing is, i'm trying to get him back on EASY, but if hes hungry then i feed on demand still.
even if he falls asleep at boob (at night or for a nap) he wakes as soon as i put him down. Then requires more shushing, rocking, bouncing & will happily nap on my shoulder- but refuses to be put down.

Anyone had success with PU/PD? Tried for 25 mins yesterday and cracked & gave him boob!

He's now asleep on my shoulder, seems to be the only place he'll nap!

I was about to post exactly the same thing so no advice sorry but am hoping someone will come along to help us.

DD is also 18 weeks and has always fed to sleep then been transfered to her moses basket/cot no problem. However we have never been able to move her from me, car seat or pram for naps without waking her so I have often left her wherever she was at the time.

Now she is doing this at night to the point that last night we could not get her to stay asleep in her cot at all because as soon as she touched it she woke up or her arms would fly backwards and wake her up.

When she wakes she screams until we pick her up again and then she falls straight back to sleep without the need for feeding but it seems to be a vicious circle.

Does anyone have any advice please?

No advice I'm afraid, just my sympathy, as my 18wo is behaving exactly the same way. I've had to carry her around all day for the past 2weeks and it's driving me insane! The only thing that has worked but only a couple of times is waiting 20mins, once she has gone limp, before putting her down. But then she's woken an hour later.

I used to have to hold DD in my arms for a full half-hour so that she was asleep enough to be put down. Try the following:

First, have white noise on in the background. (www.simplynoise.com is free.)

Then, when baby is really drowsy or lightly asleep, get up with her in your arms and stand beside the cot holding her for a full 30 seconds. Then, making sure you have one hand on her head, and keeping your body very close to hers, ease her into the cot. If your hand is trapped under her cheek once she?s in the cot, put your other hand on her head while you ease out the first hand. Keep your hand lightly on her head while you adjust gro bag or blankets or whatever, and then you can remove your hand and sneak away. If she starts or roots, try to stay really close to her body and stroke her head. If she cries, just pick her up and cuddle her and try again in a while.

Oh, and if you're really in the depths of the four month sleep regression, any kind of EASY routine is unlikely to work...you might have to abandon it for a while.

My DD was like this! Have you tried putting her down in her cot on her side rather than back? This worked for us and seems not to wake her as much as putting her down on her back.

Llamallama- Ah great will try to put him on his side- thanks :)

Optionalintegration- thanks yeap have well and truely abamdoned EASY especially as its hot, lots of little drinks needed!

Last night DS missed his 4 ish nap & dropped off in my arms after a feed at 7.30pm & was able to put him in cot without him waking ( halle luleau)
Yes the trapped hand thing is a pain, i lower him in soooo gently, but at 17/18 ish pounds he really is like a sack of spuds!!
Will try whitenoise- havent done that yet.
