Dummy runs.....

DS is 5.5 months goes 7-7 without feeding BUT we are up anything from twice to ten times putting dummy back in. DH usually sleeps thru most of it and I am exhausted.

Have been thinking about going cold turkey on the dummy but I feel so mean. DS depends on it to fall asleep - has anyone gone cold turkey? How long did it take?

Other option is to try and teach him to put dummy back in what age can they do this? He only has dummy for sleep and often when I go in in the night he is barely awake eyes shut just rooting for dummy so not sure if he is awake enough to look for it!

Has anyone had any success with a sleepytot dummy bunny?
Not sure what else to do hate the thought of removing dummy or CC but i really need some sleep!

Hi there

We has exactly the same thing- my Dd is now 20 months but at your DC's age she was the same- unable to put the dummy back in. I am sure IIRC this meant we did go cold turkey on the dummy for a while and we did get there but then DD caught chicken pox and we went back to the dummy. You could try cold
Turkey & prepare yourself for a few unsettled nights- They do get used to it, if you think some kids don't have a dummy at all for sleeping. or you could buy one of those bunny things to attach it to & I'm
Sure it wouldn't be long for your DC to catch on.

At that age we introduced the sleepy tot bunny and it took a little while but then worked a treat- we had a dummy in each pawGrin. No more blindly searching fir dummies in the dark!

We were kind of forced into cold turkey with the dummy when my daughter was 16 months when she got hand, foot & mouth and couldn't put anything other than water in her mouth for a week. So- she now has no dummy but at 2.2 still asks for it quite a bit! However, the sleepytot has become the replacement comforter and goes to sleep with her in place of dummies.
