Induced labour link to poor sleep?

I saw a passing reference in a book to the possibility that babies born by induced labour may suffer problems as a result, one of which may be poor sleep habits. Is this true? Does anyone know where I can get more info on this?

I was induced and DS sleeps like a log and has done since he was born, he was in SCBU for a couple of days for observation and in there they feed on demand but it got to the point where after 5/6 hours he wasn't wakening up so they had to start waking him.

He started sleeping through from about 4-8 weeks.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/07/2012 12:01

I was induced with dd and she also slept well. She was in SCBU for nine days and they did four hourly feeds (tube fed never cried for food)

Flisspaps · 03/07/2012 12:03

I was induced with DD. She was a crap sleeper early on.

I wasn't induced with DS. He is a crap sleeper.

flibberdyjibbert · 03/07/2012 12:04

Sounds like a load of old cobblers to me - can't see how it would have any effect on sleep. Mine were both spontaneous onset deliveries & finally both started sleeping through the night at the ripe old age of 12 months. From what I've seen, generally speaking, being born can lead to problems, one of which may be poor sleep habits :-)

StrawberrytallCAKE · 03/07/2012 12:14

Dd was induced, she sleeps at least 13 hours a night and was sleeping through from 3 months. It's rubbish IMO.

IceCreamCastles · 03/07/2012 12:21

Induced (early) with dd. She was and is a crap sleeper.

Induced (late) with ds. So far (4 months) a pretty good sleeper.

wheredidiputit · 03/07/2012 13:33

DD1 not induced crap sleeper. Didn't sleep the night until 2.6 years.

DD2 an DS induced sleep through from 6 weeks

QwertyQueen · 10/07/2012 18:39

Both induced. Both crap sleepers.

Bet01 · 10/07/2012 19:19

Induced. Still a soul-destroyingly bad sleeper at 17 months.

CowgirlintheSand · 10/07/2012 19:20

Induced - great sleeper.

bruffin · 10/07/2012 19:22

I was induced and Ds slept through from 3 months

scrivette · 11/07/2012 20:06

Not induced. Rubbish sleeper.

vez123 · 12/07/2012 21:53

Induced late. Crap sleeper.

MrTumblesCrackWhore · 12/07/2012 21:56

Ds1 - induced. Best sleeper in the history of children (used to sleep later than us)

Dd2 - not induced. Good sleeper but early riser

PotteringAlong · 12/07/2012 21:58

Induced. crap sleeper

Can't see that he would've been a better sleeper if not induced

lambethlil · 13/07/2012 22:55

Induced x3. All good sleepers, not great self settlers, but sleepin through from start.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 13/07/2012 23:00

Induced with DD, terrible sleeper to start with but by 8 months sleeping through more often than not and now at 21 months she's brilliant. Now I've said that I'll be up all night won't I...

KatAndKit · 16/07/2012 07:54

induced at term. fairly bad sleeper. passable at night but nap refuser in the day.

camdancer · 16/07/2012 07:58

Pretty much dream births x 3 = 3 crap sleepers. Sorry.

BellaOfTheBalls · 16/07/2012 08:07

One induced, one spontaneous. My induced baby slept better than my spontaneous one.

strawberrypenguin · 16/07/2012 08:17

Sounds like rubbish to me. DS was induced (and it was long) and sleeps well, has slept through from about 15 weeks. I think a sleeping/non sleeping baby is just the luck of the draw so to speak.

olivestree · 17/07/2012 09:42

I was induced. My friends commented that they didn't see DD's eyes for months as she was always sleeping.
