I have tried tanking 10 week old DS up at midnight, he is still waking at 4am for a feed, and is definitely hungry. Any ideas?

Sorry, I thought you wanted to streeeeetch him as in making him longer

colditz · 26/02/2006 18:22

He is too young to sleep through the night. Let him keep the feeds he wants until at least 6 months old.

i thought the same northerner! sorry not useful advice. i seem to remember dd was a law onto herself at this age. at about 4 months things got abit more reasonable. cluster feeding from about 5 onwards seemed to do the job.

Sorry, he's 10 weeks old. You will have to feed him when he is hungry.

DumbledoresGirl · 26/02/2006 18:24

I would have thought waking after 4 hours sleep was fairly normal for a 10 week old, but perhaps I am getting my time scales muddled.

heavenis · 26/02/2006 18:30

Sorry your tanking him up (beer).

I think this is normal for a 10 week old. Don't believe people who tell you theirs slept through from 3wks.
What weight is he.
I think you need to feed when he's hungry and your doing just fine.

SoupDragon · 26/02/2006 18:30

I agree - if he's hungry, feed him. He'll go longer when he's ready.

novadandypowder · 26/02/2006 20:08

see my post about advice that worked - seriously feed on demand and your DS will decide when its time to drop it.

I felt the same when DD was 10wks, ended up doing 4 night feeds until 12wks, 2 feeds after that (midnight and 4), then at 18wks she dropped all her feeds and does 7 - 7 each night.

It may feel like it wil never stop, but your baby is doing it because he is hungry, not to annoy you.

Agree with everyone - he will sleep through when he's ready
