Have just been reading on another thread about the guidelines for having your baby in the room with you. I didn't realise it was so they can hear you breathing and use that to regulate their breathing, I assumed it was so you could hear them. This has brought to mind done questions for you sleep experts out there! How close do you have to be for them to still hear you? During the day/evening my 4 week old DS naps in the carrycot part of his travel system in the dining room. Dining room and lounge are technically separate rooms but with an open archway between. If I'm in the lounge I'm only about 8 or 10 feet away, but if I'm behind the wall bit will he still hear me? To be honest I'm surprised he can hear me in the bedroom as I don't breathe very loudly!
Also is it just the mother's breathing they 'use'? DP snores horrifically, has sleep apnoea and is generally a noisy and restless sleeper. Will this affect DS in any way? Luckily he works nights 5 nights a week or I'd never get any sleep!
