Co-sleeping and skin-to-skin

I want to co-sleep with DC2 who?s due in December. How do you manage to have skin-to-skin with the baby whilst still keeping you (and them) warm?
I co-sleep with my DS, but I didn?t start from birth and he was always in a sleeping bag. I?d like to be able to start with DC2 snuggled up a bit closer if possible.

With DS I used blankets up to my waist and then wore about 6 layers on top, including a hoodie. The room is a cold loft room (usually a chilly 14 degrees in winter), although I imagine we?ll have the heating on a lot more when DC2 is tiny.

I?m planning on getting some double sized cotton cellular blankets, as the blankets I used before kept coming untucked as they were only single sized. How many might I need?

I don't think I would dare have a tiny newborn naked in a room that goes down to 14 degrees, skin to skin or not. That is very cold for a newborn.
My 8 month old dd's room just now is 20 degrees and she is in a vest, sleepsuit, sleeping bag and has a cellular blanket over her
Sorry this isn't much help Blush

Yes, that's why I thought we'd need the heating on a lot more. :)

I hate sleeping in a warm room in winter though. :(

We are fairly hardy here - at 20 degrees, DS is in sleepsuit (no vest) and sleeping bag. But it's easy at his age - if he's cold, I know he'll just wake up and come and snuggle into me, so I can adjust bedding easily.

If you can get hold of a large tubi-grip bandage then you can wear it like a boob tube and pop baby down the front. I'm in winter with my newborn DS at the mo and it keeps him (and me) toastie warm.
