When to drop a nap and which one?!?!

Hello!
I've got 6 month old (about 4 months corrected) twin girls. They still have three naps a day and I was wondering when I should look at dropping one and which one?
Any suggestions?

Mine dropped his 3rd nap around 6 months. I did BW & they suggest 6-7 months for dropping this nap, but BW encourages 2x longish naps of 1.5hrs each. Whereas other routines eg GF have a shorter morning nap of 1hr & a longer lunchtime nap of 2hrs, need to keep this nap for longer b/c LO wouldn't manage to stay awake from lunchtime to bedtime without it.

keepmum is right though, on the whole, when they don't want the nap any more they will just stop taking it. When DS stopped having his nap at home we used to take him out in the pram/car & when he eventually stopped sleeping during motion we knew he was well & truly ready to drop it!

Having said that, some LO's will show you in other ways, by having long night wakings or by waking early.

My DD just went nuts one week, couldn't get her to sleep at all, then I realised she'd dropped from 4 naps to 2 overnight (though late pm nap had been a struggle for a few weeks). It just gets harder and harder to get them to sleep at the normal time. You'll know!

DD dropped her late afternoon nap at about 6 months when I started weaning her. I found that once she started having lunch it pushed her middle nap later and longer meaning there was no need for the late afternoon nap.

Yep, tried to drop the nap and we had a complete meltdown Blush I guess I've answered my own question.....lol!

Definitely! Bear in mind at 4 months corrected they are still very very young & so will need that nap for at least another 2 months but possibly longer.x
