Six week DD refuses day time naps...

...unless I'm holding her, or at a push, in her pram for a walk.
She cries when put in Moses basket. She is visibly tired, fed and clean but will not nap.

She will sleep at 11pm after her last feed so it's not a total aversion to sleeping alone. She is exclusively bf and refuses bottles so I can't pass her to DP for a feed.

I'm so tired holding her all day- I need a break! Does anyone have any suggestions...

Flashback here! My DS was just the same. I think very young babies just like the comfort of being held. We got a swing which he liked ( obvs short periods). Ask someone else to have a cuddle. I'm sure they will be happy to! How is the weight gain? My DS lost weight and was hungry so wouldn't sleep. Are you getting cluster feeding? I think there is a growth spurt at about 6 weeks.
Hope your arms get a rest soon. I remember being huge and pregnant and wanting to put the bump down for a rest. It was 6 months before I could even go for a wee without DS on my knee!

I guess it's understandable that six week old babies are a bit clingy Wink
Her weight gain is great- she never lost an ounce- but she does seem to be very hungry and feeds a lot.. (yes, growth spurt at the moment and she feeds ALL DAY).

Wait, Wolfie- you had a huge bump AND a six month old DS?
Did I read that right? Confused

Mine was like this till 4 months ish. We had a close wrap skin which SAVED me - I wore him in it all day while I pottere around. It was great

bigkidsdidit · 02/06/2012 19:07

Sling. Not skin.

You need a sling!

Google "sling library" for your part of the world and go and try a few. My boba wrap saved me much heartache early on.

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 03/06/2012 10:45

Sling, sling sling all the way! Also, remember if you can't beat them join them. Sometimes if they are having a cluster feeding or particularly clingy day just cancel all other expectations and go with it. Cuddle up in bed with them and sleep when they sleep, set up a laptop (or if you have a tv in your room use that), buy yourself a mindless boxset and spend the day feeding, cuddling, snoozing and eating chocolate.

It is these days that have kept me sane! (well, as sane as you can be after watching 3 seasons of spooks back to back) :o

watch sling videos on you tube.

Ihave a stretchy wrap which i am getting the hangof. got some hands free.

but not right nos as i have one DS asleep on my shoulder and one sat on my knee.

hence crap typing..
