In the hot weather what do babies wear to bed?

Dd is 9.5 months and I'm confused as to what she should wear to bed when it's hot.

The sun is on her bedroom in the afternoon and evening so it's warm in there by the time it's bedtime (23' to 24'c according to monitor).

Do you put your dc's in body grows or just a vest?

I tried her without her 1 tog grow bag last night but she is used to being in it (suppose a bit like being swaddled and cosy) and took a while to settle so put it back on her in the end.

Sorry if this sounds like a daft post/question.

No, PFB would be if you took her outside and followed her around the garden holding up a blanket so not a single ray of sunlight reached her baby skin like someone I saw at the Children's centre today

Your arrangements sound good Grin

Grin herrena, I haven't done that. I'm way too relaxed to do that so much so I nearly forgot her hat and suncream today and had to run back to fetch it before heading out!

In fairness this sun is good for their vitamin d levels :)

I was wondering about this last night as DD is 10 weeks and its the first warm weather we have had. I had her in a light cotton nightie with one layer of thin cellular blanket over. Have to keep reminding myself its hot. I grew up in a semi tropical climate so 23 degrees is not hot to me!

I've just had my ds (2 months) only wearing a nappy for the past few days - he still seems scarily warm, but I'm a ftm, so...

Is that bad then? We live in a top floor flat and it's boiling, even with windows open. DS seems happier this way, too scared to take him out in the sun. Plus he's just had his shots.

GodisaDj · 27/05/2012 08:49

Gabeesh - I've ended up stripping dd down to just a nappy, best thing to do I think in this heat. There isn't much breeze by us so even with windows open it's still 25'c + in dd's room.

You can check if they are too warm or cold by feeling their chest at the top by their neck or the top of their back.

Dd has had a high temp due to teething so just stripped her completely yesterday and last night she cooled right down and slept a bit better in the double bed next to her cot with her mummy to snuggle Smile

Thanks godisadj - feel like we're having to hide away from the summer which is annoying my mum as I don't want to take him out in this weather and is annoying me as I was looking forward to taking him for walks along the river!

I've had DS in either a vest and nappy, t-shirt and nappy, or just nappy. He co sleeps with us, so we figure our body heat should keep him comfortable enough.

Looking after a 10 day old baby and he has on vest, sleeper and swaddle, he is comfy and is unbothered as it is not long since he was cooking at 37'C!

When we are out he has a ray/solar shade on pram so unlike a lot of babies in the park he is getting some light and air in unlike those behind all enlclosing blankets.

The toddler is in vest and short arm pjs and rooms are 24'C.
