Adult bedding safety questions when using bedside co-sleeper crib

DC1 is due this week, and we have a Troll bedside crib ready and waiting. The baby will hopefully be swaddled, but we also have cellular blankets and sheets. I feel OK about that side of things, but was wondering what rules we should follow to stop our bedding straying into the crib and posing a suffocation risk. All the photos online of people using bedside cribs and cots show the adults with normal pillows and duvets, but isn't that risky? I am clueless, it just looks like the kind of thing I might worry about... Should I be tucking in my duvet and ditching the pillow?

We have DS's cot up against ours with a side off, and just use our normal duvet. I've found the duvet doesn't really stray towards him as DP would be getting cold and pulling it back if it was that far over Wink. Seriously though, I've never found it moved over really. I tend to sleep with my arms out of the duvet (with a thin cardie on to keep warm) which keeps it lower too. For pillows I actually use a 'V' shape pillow which I have one end under my head and the other going down behind my back, if you see what I mean. There's no way DS can get near it really. It also offers a bit of back support as I find the position required to feed lying down quite hard on my back. I'm sure it'd be fine with your usual bedding Smile

Best wishes for the birth!
