Advice re Dummy and Gina Ford routine

Hi I'm new to mumsnet and I would like some advice from anyone following CCLB routines who has to fit in the routine with school run.My ds is 3 weeks now and is supposed to have just an hour at 4-5 but because I go to collect my daughter from school at 3.10 he ends up sleeping for 2 hours until I wake hime at 5pm.This seems to be having an adverse effect on his evening sleeps as he is difficult to settle from seven and then when we come to wake him for his night feed which ends up later than 10-10-30 because of his late settling he won't go back to sleep for 2 hours.
I am also having problems with him not settling for his morning sleep at 9am and have to resort to a dummy to calm him down.He sleeps for twenty minutes and then its time to wake him for his next feed!!.I have to stick to the feed times as its the only way I can fit them in to the afternoon school runs.I know I'm rambling but this whole thing is stressing me out!Anyone out there to keep me sane and reassure me that I will not suffer for dummy dependecy.

I take it from the age of your daughter that this is your first "Gina" baby? Is he b/f or bottle? I did Gina with my DS and at three weeks I don't think I had started..I was still feeding every 2 1/2 to 3 hours due to his jaundice. Expect others can help more with the juggling of two children and the routines.

As for a dummy..don't worry about it. My friend is using a dummy with her second and only uses it in the day and it works well for him (ie he is not reliant on it for all sleeping which I think is what you are concerned about?). Sorry cant help more but remember he is only three weeks old and he will stay awake longer soon and so trips out will become easier if you are trying to follow the routine.

HI thanks for your message. It has reassured me.I'm just off on the school run now for dd.Ds has been awake for about half an hour it is sooo difficult to wake him during the day and then the clock strikes midnight and it's ping eyes open.He is bottle fed by the way.I did Gina with dd but it all went pear shape at 4 mths when I went back to work and she went to Nursery where they couldn't even get her to sleep never mind anything else!

At that age I had awful trouble keeping him awake so the half an hour you said is more than enough I would think. Someone once said that they need more sleep at that age than Gina said and to just let them have it..it all evens out in the end when they are about 4+months old and you can go out when they are awake and they don't fall asleep (I was so shocked the first time it happened!!!)

Any other mums who have experienced the school runs on Gina's routine any ideas on what to do?
