Night Terrors 6yo - getting worse not better

Hi
My DS has had night terrors since he was 2ish, they started with the standard, crying unable to comfort and have steadily got worse. I thought we were over them as all the advice I read is they grow out of them by 6. We'd been clear all year with no terror and then bang, we get 3 a week. The only problem is they've notched up a gear in terrifying (for the adults), he fortunately doesn't remember a thing!

He now gets up and walks about, screaming, crying, visibly terrified, reacting to hallucinations, rubbing or clawing at his skin or bed clothes. I have even caught him as he's tried to jump off the top step of the stairs.

He has always talked in his sleep and his dad suffers from sleep talking and sleep walking when he's stressed out.

My DS doesn't have them at the weekend, but does during the week, plus he doesn't like school, so I'm putting it down to not wanting to go to school. It's not something I can do anything about which as a parent is very upsetting as he has to go to school.

One quick para on school. He's average student, doing well in reading/writing he's friendly and sociable, he's not being bullied and has a wide range of friends. He never cries when I drop him off and is happy once he's there. I've chatted at length with his teacher and we can't find a problem, he just doesn't want to go.

Do any of you have any advice about how we can lesten the symptoms please? I can't take away the stress of school, but I can try to help him in other ways. Any advice would be welcomed
