My 9month old baby screaming while asleep

Hi ladies,

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated, my DD is nearly 9months and has been a great sleeper, over the last week I have changed her bedtime routine slightly so that she is going to bed a bit later, round about 8:00. She normally use to go to sleep anytime between 6-7ish. I have done this as I am returning to work in a few weeks and wont be able to get her to bed by 6.

Anyway, the problem is this, she settles to sleep and about an hour or two later she screams the house down, there are no tears and she is not awake she is just screaming uncontrollably. I pick her up to settle her and this seems to work after a few minutes, I then put her back in her cot and she settles again but then wakes again an hour or so later doing exactly the same thing. This is the last time she wakes until the morning, so it only seems to happen during the evening.

Any suggestions of what is causing it or how to prevent it? My DH wants me to take her to the doctor but I dont think their is anything medically wrong with her.

Thanks in adnvance

They say evening waking is related to overtiredness. Maybe mgr her bedtime back and make the change gradual so that her waking up time shifts too.

Or

Could it be teething? My dd is cutting a tooth and is waking in the evenings again... She also is crying in her sleep. But then she continues to wake all night too!

Ah thanks for that, she could be overtired as she only has one nap in the day, maybe I will try and get her to nap a bit more.

Oh I think then it's very likely. One nap is probably not enough. Not bad that she sleeps at night though. Think you are lucky!

That definitely sounds like over tiredness to me. I had a similar thing withDD1 when I was trying to get her in a routine and restricting her naps.

I think they're called night terrors but don't google... Had me in tears!

Very common to happen at end of each sleep cycle and not fully wake up.

Good luck
