Burping and sleep

Howdy all! hope someone can help me with my sleep problem. My 11 week old DD is waking frequently in the night due to stuck burps. In the day she will happily go 3-4 hours between feeds but at night she often wakes every hour. In the day she sleeps in a sling so is upright so i guess burps not so problematic.

I am using infacol and this does seem to help to create bigger burps but even if I spend ages burping her after a feed she always seems to wake an hour later with a big burp. It ends up with me bfng her again to get her back to sleep and the cycle starts again. The only solution i found s to let her sleep on me, but this is not very comfy or sustainable as she is getting pretty big!

Anyone have any tips?

Have you tried gripe water? It works better for us than infacol.

I have a similar problem and no real solution. Dd is 4.5 months Hmm

She has a terrible latch which she is refusing to change so swallows a lot of air when feeding. It all stems from a tongue tie which she didn't have snipped until 3 months as no one could give me a definitive answer. By then she had awful habits and it's a nigh are trying to change. Especially as I have an over active letdown so she doesn't need to make an effort to feed. She also has silent reflux too.
So check your latch and try winding her while she's asleep on you - being relaxed you might get more out of her!

Thanks for your replies, will try gripe water.

Iggly - pretty sure her latch is bad as it is often clicky but less so at night which puzzles me as this is when burps real problem. I also have very fast letdown that causes her to gulp. Didn't have this problem with my two sons so not sure how to deal with it. Was hoping she'd grow out of it but it actually seems to be getting worse, last night she was screaming half the night : (

She might be pulling to the end of your nipple and there will be a small gap between her mouth and your boob letting air in. You'll notice it more at night because she'll get it out in the day when in the sling etc. dd is like this and it's really hard winding her at night. Partly because I'm tired too! Infacol doesn't help. Or gripe water. I end up stopping her from feeding after ten mins or so to reduce feeds and hope she makes up for it in the day.

Have the same problem with my 4 week old. I was advised by the HV that it can sometimes be due to an immature sphincter in the oesophagus and so theoretically should subside with age. Just not sure when! She also suggested gripe water.
